Laura Cunningham

Posted in Shoots on November 25, 2009 by aperturestudio

Ireland AM stylist and one half of The Style Bitches, Laura Cunningham is as beautiful as she is stylish… and I had the pleasure of shooting with her last week for our first ever shoot together, after over a year in trying to get it organised! lol!

One thing after another in our busy lives prevented us from getting around to doing the shoot when we had originally planned to do so and before we knew it over a year had passed lol! But eventually we got there… and I think you’ll agree it was worth it when you see the images from the shoot below.

It was a pleasure to be able to work with Laura and she provided some amazing images. I’ll definitely be having her back again if I am to be so lucky.

You can catch Laura for fashion advice in the mornings on Ireland AM on TV3, weekdays. You can also read her words of fashion wisdom on her Style Bitches blog.

Fina

Posted in Shoots on November 25, 2009 by aperturestudio

My gorgeous friend Fina was also shooting with me last week in what was certainly one of my busiest weeks in a long time!

Fina is a model and Score Angel for the News of the World and i’m happy to say that she is also one of my best and most trusted friends… not to mention she’s HOT! I love working with her and this has been my third shoot with her to date. May there be many more to come!

Also particularly enjoyable was our road trip from Dublin to the north on the morning of the shoot… we always have a lot to talk about! lol! Huggsy was our backseat passenger… see if you can see him in the photos lol!

Here are just the first few of the finished images from the shoot.

Encounter with a live snake!

Posted in Published Work, Shoots on November 25, 2009 by aperturestudio

That’s right… I done my first photo shoot with a real live snake, and its owner/model/performer, the beautiful Emma Quinlan of course!

Emma is very well-known around Ireland and the UK for her career in modelling and performing with her vast amount of pet snakes and last week I had my first ever opportunity to meet one of her snakes up close and do a shoot with her and the snake together. Squirt (the snake) is not just big, she’s HUGE! So big in fact that she weighs nearly the same as me and Emma tells me she could manage a small sheep for a meal… the snake that is, not Emma lol!

Just for a change of pace we decided to shoot on location rather than in the studio so we were very kindly given use of the VIP and stage area in The Village on Camden St in Dublin. It was the perfect setting for the style of images we wanted to create as they are going to be sent off for publishing in an Australian magazine… so sadly they can’t be revealed just yet.

Below are some of the backstage pics from the day and just one teaser pic from the shoot itself. When the magazine is published the full images will be here for you to see. You’ll just have to wait!

Two points to mention though are the fact I chose not to get too close to the snake, and seeing a snake pee for the first time is a hell of an experience! lol!

Big thanks go to Neil at The Village for letting us use the premises and for the delicious food, the lovely Elaine Carruthers (who is a mum-to-be very soon!) for her excellent makeup skills and of course to the beautiful Emma and her snake Squirt. Not to be forgotten is Eamonn Doran for his help in handling the snake and helping us to get it to pose!

Emma is represented by bScene model agency in Ireland. Please see their website or Emma’s official website for information on booking her.

Rosanna Davison

Posted in Shoots on November 24, 2009 by aperturestudio

Previously crowned as a Miss World contest winner and photographed countless times for many of the leading fashion magazines in Ireland and the UK and beyond… there aren’t many people who won’t know the simply gorgeous and naturally beautiful Rosanna Davison!

I couldn’t possibly begin to list the many amazing achievements of her modelling career to date and nothing I can say will really do her justice as you just have to see her photos to believe how beautiful she is, but I will say this: A true professional through and through, she makes any photo shoot a breeze and every image incredible! Not to mention she is such a delightfully friendly and down to earth girl.

I was extremely lucky to have the pleasure of a second photo shoot with her recently and below are a few of the images from that shoot.

Rosanna is currently represented by Assets model agency in Ireland and Storm Models in the UK who both represent many of the biggest names in the modelling industry. Her official website has all the relevant contact information needed to make a booking with her, which is exactly what you should do!

Katie Larmour

Posted in Shoots on November 24, 2009 by aperturestudio

Having had the pleasure to shoot with the wonderful Katie Larmour from Compton model agency for a second time, here are some of the images from the shoot.

Katie is (as you can see) undeniably beautiful and she is always such fun to work with. It’s no wonder we get carried away on our shoots together which end up running from morning until night! We have already made plans for our next shoot together and this time it will be on location for a change… I just hope the weather is good on the day!

Katie currently models for the Compton model agency in Dublin. If you would like to book Katie for a photo shoot then please see the agency website or her official website for more information on booking her. Katie also does TV and commercial work.

Beautiful AND talented… she is sure to be big!

Suzanne McCabe

Posted in Shoots on November 24, 2009 by aperturestudio

Here are just a few images from my second shoot with the utterly drop dead gorgeous Suzanne McCabe who is a model in Dublin with the Assets model agency.

It is always such a pleasure to work with this wonderful girl. She consistently provides amazing image after amazing image and she hardly even requires any kind of direction during the shoot as she knows exactly what shes doing, pose after pose. Without a doubt she is a seriously top class model who could put many of Ireland’s top models to shame!

If you would like to book Suzanne for a photo shoot or any other modelling related work then please visit the Assets website for more information on making a booking. Trust me, you WON’T be disappointed!

A new chapter for Aperture Studio… F4

Posted in Announcements, News on November 10, 2009 by aperturestudio

For those of you who read this blog, you may have noticed that there has been a significant lack of posts and information lately. Well, normal service is about to be resumed… well maybe not quite “normal” but rather “better”!

Welcome to the newly revamped blog in honour of the newly revamped Aperture Studio! As of October 1st 2009, Aperture Studio just got a whole lot bigger and better… literally! F4 is the new name for Aperture’s new studio. Don’t worry, the name Aperture Studio hasn’t changed… the “F4″ has just been added as a representation of my new and much bigger studio! Most likely only other photographers will understand the significance of the “F4″ and it’s link to the camera jargon of which the main studio name was taken… but rest assured it IS significant.

So how much has changed?

Well the studio itself is obviously the main thing. It’s much much bigger than the old one and it holds many more possibilities for amazing shoots than the old studio did. All the old favourite backdrops, sets and props have made the transition from old to new plus there is some exciting new items added now too… with more being added all the time!

The studio now has it’s own in-built changing area with full facilities for doing make-up too AND it also has it’s own kitchen attached.

If all of that wasn’t enough there has also been some new lighting installed which allows for even more creative images!

Nearly a month of hard work and labour in getting what was an old, dirty, dark and cold garage has brought it to this point, and it’s been worth it 100%. Gone is that garage and in it’s place is a brand new, fresh well equipped and exciting studio!

So whether you have been to the old Aperture Studio or never been to Aperture Studio before, you still have an excellent reason to come to Aperture Studio now! At the current prices of model portfolios starting from just £100 and the other range of services on offer such as weddings, portraits and commercial product/premises shots, it’d be hard to fail to find a reason not to visit Aperture Studio!

Stay tuned for lots more blogging on the new and very exciting things that are coming this way in the new chapter of Aperture Studio – F4!

Until then,
